This quasi-experimental study used a sample size of 6,087 students in grades 4-8 across 25 schools within a large, urban California school district during the 2022-2023 school year. It examined Nearpod’s impact on learning outcomes using state summative assessment data and Nearpod usage data. Based on strong results and research design, Nearpod meets ESSA Level II evidence standards. The research highlights four key takeaways:

LearnPlatform by Instructure ESSA Level III study

This study used a sample size of 28,968 students and 4,020 teachers from various grade levels within a large, urban school district in Texas during the 2021-2022 school year. It sought to answer if Nearpod implementation was associated with better student performance at the end of the year. Based on strong results, Nearpod meets ESSA Level III evidence standards. The research highlights three key takeaways:

    Nearpod positively impacts students’ end-of-year State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), with students scoring higher in ELA and math.

    A direct correlation exists between increased Nearpod sessions and higher student STAAR scores.

MBZ Labs study

This study used a sample size of over 7,000 students across 10 school sites within the Hendry County School District in Florida during the 2018-2019 school year. It quantifies Nearpod’s impact on student achievement using a quasi-experimental design. Based on strong results, Nearpod meets ESSA Level II evidence standards. The research highlights three key takeaways:

    There is a strong positive correlation between use of Nearpod lesson content and academic achievement scores.

    Teachers who received specialized training from Nearpod used the platform more, and their students scored significantly higher on the state standardized test than students in the control group.

    Students of teachers who received customized training on using Nearpod with diverse populations scored significantly higher than the control group on the state ELA assessment.
